Just thought i would put a few pics of last weeks work. A weathered coni with a new coal load. Didn't get a chance to do anything this weekend as i went away for a break fly fishing.

Ill be back into it tomorrow with a bachman 4-8-2 to weather. Also going to be very busy over the next few months with bunch of laser kits coming to make (bar mills and branchline). I plan to make construction threads and photograph them as i build if anyone is interested.

Anyway the pics.

Had another day of weathering yesterday. Got around to doing my 4-8-2 bachman loco. Just have to change the couplers on both of them. Always a painful job.

Looks good.

The weathering on the steam locos look great.... Not overdone, just right for a well maintained locomotive in service everyday.

Rapido on the front

Very nice touch on the weathering.  It is interesting to see the Rapido on the front porch.  Really gives a sense of scale to the loco.  It looks smaller than I thought.

The weathering looks so
The weathering looks so good it really makes it obvious the Rapidos just don't belong!

Jason i have done one or

Jason i have done one or two other steam locos that have moved on to new owners. When i did these i found i over did them. I think the idea is less is more.

I used john prykes  article

http://www.trains.com/mrr/default.aspx?c=a&id=542

As for the colours i used floquil rust first using a template cut in 010" styrene for streaks then floquil mud lightly around the wheels and drive gear then on the boiler.

Finally used Engine black and dusted down the whole loco to take of that shine and then a dulcoat seal.

Very happy with the way they turned out. Makes me want to get more steam. As for the cab  forward, i can't say no to one of those magnificant locos... not new haven but then again neither is any on30 stuff i have Laughing
