Ok so I would like change a facility on my railroad to a truck loading/unloading facility and I would like to "pave" the area around the facility including the area around the rails. In other words i would like the typ of faciltity where the paving is the same height as the railhead around and in between the rail, hopefully this makes sense. What materials or material would be best to accomplish this? Hopefully a material that I can get a smooth asphalt finish with but that doesnt matter that much.

Black "Fun Foam"

I haven't looked at the above links yet, but myself and a couple of friend have successfully used black "Fun Foam" from the craft store to simulate asphalt. It's easy to work with and can be stained with acrylic paints for weathering.
